Better business and organization meetings through Toastmasters

Better business and organization meetings through Toastmasters

      03.08.2017 21:46

Toastmasters has taught me how to run a meeting. Which, as you can guess, has become critical in my business. As I work as a consultant with many different companies and organizations, I find a diverse range of knowledge of how to run and manage meetings.
So what have I learned and implemented?
      1. You need a goal for every meeting. Why are we having this meeting? What do we want to accomplish?. And, does everyone actually need to be in on this meeting? Sometimes it is better to have a series of smaller meetings instead of just one big one.
      2. You need an agenda. A written and shared agenda so everyone knows what we are trying to accomplish and what is their  responsibility.
      3. Action items. No meeting concludes without action items. Not only do we create action items but we also assign due dates. No or very few open ended actions.
Check out Toastmasters, it may change your life. Toastmasters is NOT just about public speaking - it is about improving your leadership, management and communications skills.
